JAZZ TRIO
The hip sound of Jazz Violin has been with us for decades but has
developed a following of afficianados for music by Stephane Grappelli,
Joe Venuti, Jean Luc Ponty, Claude "Fiddler" Williams, Eddie South, and
many more. The smooth sophistcation of the Violin lends itself to the
expressiveness of Jazz. This Trio of Electric Violin, Piano/Keyboards,
and Acoustic Upright Bass goes from Snappy Swing to Soft and Smooth in
a heartbeat. Styles include the standards of George Gershwin, Cole
Porter and Hoagy Carmichael to contemporary music by Kenny G and Spyro
Gyra plus Latin selections by Antonio Carlo Jobim, flashy Tangos, Funky
Blues, Classics by Thelonius Monk and Weather Report,, and Soulful
Sultry Ballads. Very tasty sound, professional appearance and approach,
and the ability to expand the repertoire to other more mainstream
styles as the night goes along separate this ensemble from all of the
rest.
