Corporate Performance Overview
Strolling Violinist Steven Vance has entertained hundreds of Corporate
and Business audiences at Corporate Banquets, Special Events, Trade
Shows, Cocktail Parties, Hospitality Suites, Themed Events, and Private
Gatherings for nearly twenty years. A Pittsburgh native, he has also
performed in New York City, Washington DC, Baltimore, Myrtle Beach,
The Poconos, and over every hill and dale in the Tri-State area. Steven
has honed his skills by perfecting many styles of music to build a
repertoire of over 1,000 tunes including everything from Mozart to
Phantom of The Opera to The Charlie Daniels Band.
Out of that wealth of experience he has developed a unique strolling
performance perfect for sophisticated affairs and casual programs.
From convention groups of one thousand to romantic dinners for two,
Steven enchants listeners with his smoothly polished sounds.
Former First Lady Barbara Bush has had the opportunity to experience
his unique talent when Steven performed "Yellow Rose of Texas"
and "String of Pearls" for her. He entertained at a Birthday
Party for Former Governor of PA and Director of Homeland Security
Tom Ridge. and he was invited by Pittsburgh Symphony Conductor
Mariss Jansons (who heard him at a Bar Mitzvah) to play at the going-away party for his Symphony
musicians.
Mobility is the key as Steven brings the music to you via his
state-of-the-art wireless sound system which recreates a "Concert
Hall" sound so that no one misses a note of the show. Free
to move about, he can entertain virtually everyone on a personal
basis.
It's not just the music, but Steven's brand of fun, style, and
audience-participation that helps everyone feel like they are part
of the show. The music of Steven Vance compliments any occasion
- although even at 6'3" tall he - never overshadows the event.
THE REQUEST LINE IS OPEN is his most popular performance. This
begins with light background music during Cocktails, then at Dinner,
he moves into the traditional table-to-table style allowing your
guests to hear what they want to hear. Everyone's experience is
enhanced by his use of his Top 100 (soon to be 200) Requests Lists
which he places table-tent style (if you wish) on each table for
each group to choose their own favorites. People love these lists
and they are waiting for him when he comes around. It's an excellent
icebreaker and conversation starter too ! There is a copy of the
list on this site (see link below).
He can also theme music for Special Events - Italian, Irish, Viennese, Latin, Gypsy, Patriotic
Country and Bluegrass Fiddle and many more. He also has excellent
MC skills so if you need a few simple announcements or need the
whole evening coordinated he is ready, willing, and able to help.
Although he often performs alone, there are a number of other formats
he can offer. His KEYSTRING DUO is a Violin and Piano/Keyboard Duo
which plays the whole spectrum of musical styles and is ideal for
many events. STRIO is his strolling violin group which can now present
up to 5 violins and offers the option of a wireless sound system
which creates a majestic orchestral sound. The VIENNA NIGHTS ORCHESTRA
is a totally unique "dance" band showcasing 2 or 3 Violins,
Piano and Bass playing Viennese Waltzes, Jitterbugs, Tangos, Troika's,
Jazz Standards, and a surprise or two. His SKYVIEW JAZZ TRIO swings
with the best of them. The CAFE TRIO is a European-style strolling
group with accordion and Bass doing French, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian,
and ... He even offer a STROLLING VIOLIN And DJ PACKAGE where he
can take care of the whole night of fun. There are links to all
of these other options at the bottom of the page. With him, there's
never a dull moment.

Wedding Performance Overview
Thank you for your interest in my musical services. This will tell you more about how I can be a memorable part of your
Wedding Day.
First off, this type of performing is my specialty. I have been averaging over 200+ engagements per year for the past 9 years and I've played at over
1000 weddings in the past ten years. My standard wedding package
is based on a 2 1/2-3 hour time frame to cover Cocktails and Dinner.
This may sound like a long time but most people underestimate the length of time it will take to get through the end of Dinner.
During Cocktails I do a lively up-tempo mix
of Jazz, Swing, Classical, Latin, Pop, and Waltzes to set the atmosphere
as your guests arrive. It never fails to make an immediate positive
impression on your guests. If you prefer to gear the music to a
particular style during this time (i.e. Classical, Italian...),
I am open to ideas.
I can handle all of your announcing needs if you wish but am happy to allow someone else to do it. Either way, after the Prayer and Toast, I offer a Musical Toast (a first request, usually a romantic ballad) to the Bride
& Groom by introducing myself and then announcing to your guests
that I'll be around to all of the tables but first will play a special
request for you two. This never fails to get some "ooh's and aah's"
from the crowd. From there I go immediately into my table-to-table
routine taking requests from your guests. My repertoire covers over
1,000 tunes -- everything from Mozart to Phantom Of The Opera to
The Charlie Daniels Band -- and if I don't know it I'll make it
up ! I do encourage special requests for parents, grandparents,
birthdays, anniversaries, etc ... I also put my Top 100 Requests
Lists (on an attractive bordered paper) in table-tent form on all
of the guest tables to help get the "requesting" started.
My state-of-the-art wireless sound system recreates a "Concert
Hall" sound for groups of 20 to 1,000. This allows everyone to hear
the music and enjoy it even more. The volume is completely adjustable
at your request and many people never realize it's on.
Emcee services are another option I offer. With my Toastmaster's
training, I am comfortable with the introduction of the Bridal Party
, Prayer, Toast, etc... as much or as little as you need. Often
times the banquet manager is thrilled to relinquish this responsibility
and later I can turn over these duties to your band or DJ.
Adding a Piano or electronic keyboards (KEYSTRING DUO) can be very
nice for Cocktails and more. It adds an additional musical presence
and visual impact. It's also great for small receptions where we
are the only entertainment and dancing is not a high priority, although
we can do what we call "light" dance music. My strolling Violin and DJ allows me to do everything for you that night and has been a huge success (see link below). You might also consider my strolling
violin group STRIO with 3 violins. Or for something completely different,
the CAFE TRIO, with Violin, Accordion, and Bass, does a beautiful
variety of European-Style (French, Spanish,...) strolling requests.
Speaking of European, our VIENNA NIGHTS ORCHESTRA (Three Violins,
Piano, and Bass) is a sparkling alternative to a traditional string
ensemble. Links for all of these ideas are at the bottom of this page.
Yes, I do ceremonies. For a modest additional fee I can perform
at your service playing solo or working with an organist. I can
also provide a STRING DUO, TRIO, QUARTET, or QUINTET and
other soloists (HARP, TRUMPET,VOCALIST) .
Finally, I take my work very seriously and realize you get only
one chance to do this right so it will be my pleasure to do anything
I can to make it special. Thank you for your consideration and I
look forward to being part of your Wedding Day.
